SCHOOL PROGRAMMES

The AWPF Leadership School Programme creates an exciting and engaging inspiration to children and young adults to re-engage into outdoor and nature based environments. Through the programme they participate in activities based on the five elements of earth, air, fire, water and spirit. In a purpose built camp, the students create new levels of relationship bonding, leadership skills, communication skills and teamwork. Through our non-profit outreach programme, African Wildlife Protection Fund, students experience interaction with our local disadvantaged community through core skills development.

The mission of the AWPF

The AWPF believes that there is a direct correlation between the social economic plight of rural communities and the rapid disappearance of our endangered wildlife. We are committed to addressing this problem through an interlinked campaign of education, social economic development and support mechanisms for wildlife security. The plight is not just one of the Rhino as we are fighting for the very survival of many species interlinked with the livelihoods of local communities.

“Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.”

- John F. Kennedy

Introduction

Made up of 1385 hectares, Rangers Reserve is the home and pride of Rangers Survivalcraft. This paradise situated merely 2 hours out of Cape Town will capture your heart and plunge you into a world you would not want to leave.

Rangers Reserve prides itself in having the fynbos wilderness that is home to many varieties of game and vegetation, hundreds of different succulents as well as many different protea species.

Accomodation

Relaxation and social time is an important part of any programme, so we have ensured that these times are provided for you in accommodation that is in a safe, clean and spacious environment.
In typical Karoo farmhouse style, the accommodation is distributed on one level with a range of bedrooms and en-suites along with areas where all students can gather to cook, eat, socialize or catch up on a bit of TV. Warm wood panelling creates a lovely cosy, homely feel throughout.

Bedrooms have a range of bunk beds mainly with four persons to a room, and one room for eight persons. The rooms are distributed depending on the number of males and females attending. All have great showers with steamy hot water and plenty of pressure. Good modern fitted wardrobe space is in every bedroom.

We have a fantastic fully equipped kitchen, with central cooking island and a large range of cupboards and storage, gas hob, electric oven, micro- wave, everything needed to create some amazing food for fun times. Large social dining area, with indoor braai, and doors to the outside both to the front and back of the property, so you can sit at on one of the large covered porches and watch the wonderful African sun rise and sun set.

Outside is a lovely garden area, surrounded by fruit trees, and fenced. A choice of outdoor braai areas in the garden as well as the one inside leaves no excuse for some good South African cooking. To round off a great day, try some swimming in one of the dams in true African style!

To ensure all students feel comfortable, and to ensure safety, a staff member of Rangers Reserve will sleep in the student accommodation each night.
